WHO WE ARE

The Indian Association for Promotion of Adoption (IAPA) was established in 1970 in Mumbai by a group of professional social workers, lawyers, and adoptive parents with the firm resolve that every child has a right to a family and that adoption is the most effective way to rehabilitate destitute children.

VARADAAN is the Vidarbha Chapter IAPA, Mumbai, established in Nagpur in 1990.

It is a registered Society which is also licensed under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act 2015. VARADAAN strictly adheres to the Guidelines prescribed by CARA (Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India) while placing a child in adoption. The broad aim of VARADAAN is child welfare and the promotion of Indian adoption.

The seven recognized adoption placement agencies working in this region became members of the VCA-VR. Subsequently, the VCA-VR became an independent registered body with VARADAAN as one of its members; when VARADAAN set up its own Child Care Unit in 1994 and commenced adoption placement work.
